Desideratum
The problem with possessing glorious perfume is that inevitably bottles must spray or trickle their last hypnotic offering. The question then poses itself purchase a another castling ? Or search for a new beguiling companion. I do not have a large collection of perfumes I have a steadfast bastion of my favourites that loiter confidently on my dressing table knowing they will always have a place. A few more that teeter on the verge of joining that elite group and the mavericks because why not and don't we all need a little spark of something new that doesn't quite sit on our skin as comfortably as the ones we have come to love and trust. Then there are the testers provided by the wonderful advisors in perfume departments and sample sets donated by loved ones. These samples can prove somewhat problematic ,what happens when you fall in love at first waft. The perfume in question out of your reach unless you plan to eat toast for the foreseeable future and little else.
This happened when I received a Creed sample set. I have never really lusted after these fragrances for that exact reason. Then one morning I picked up" Royal Princess Oud " innocently sitting in the sample box amongst the others. On first spray it caught my attention " Oh dear !", then a compliment not just at that moment, but again hours later from a person who rarely compliments a fragrance. I immediately considered if eating toast for two months was indeed nutritionally that bad after all ! This truly is a beautiful fragrance entrancing and for now just a wish that one day I will own it at least a little more than my treasured sample.
As for the remaining wish list for 2023 {although subject to additions} and just as unlikely to join my collection but that will not stop the desire to possess them are: La Perla Possibilities - Vibrato ,Sospiro Perfumes -God of Fire Stephane Humbert Lucas . So now to see if six months of feasting on toast is sustainable ..... Dear Mr Warburton ......
